The Dirty Dozen
     These foods have the highest level of pesticide residue and should always be purchased organic. By purchasing these organic you can reduce your pesticide intake by 80%.
  1. Celery
  2. Peaches
  3. Strawberries
  4. Apples
  5. Blueberries
  6. Nectaries
  7. Bell Peppers
  8. Spinach
  9. Kale and Collard Greens
  10. Cherries
  11. Pototatoes
  12. Grapes (Imported)
  13. Coffee (this is MY addition and one that is very important because most people consume this daily)
In 2010 the Dirty Dozen list was updated. Cherries fell off the list only because more pesticides were found in the 12 listed above. As you can see, they are not on the safe list so buy organic if possible.

The Clean 15
These foods are fairly free of pesticide residue. However, I have found that (for example), a non-organic banana vs. an organic banana taste incredibly different from one another. Of course the organic one tastes better.

  6. Sweet Peas
  7. Asparagus
  8. Kiwi
  9. Cabbage
